Annaliese Cassarino
Born in 1968 in New England, Annaliese Cassarino started taking photographs as a child. After a few years in advertising, she returned to her true love, photography, enrolling in the Corcoran College of Art and Design in Washington, D.C. It was there she began working on self-directed photographic projects exploring themes that were important to her.
Since then, she has created a number of series, including: In the Neighborhood; American Flag; Solitude; and Ideal (artist statements for each of these series can be found on the portfolio pages). All of these works have in common a desire to go beyond the obvious and seek out the beautiful and ethereal while exploring ideas.
Cassarino shoots with both large format and 35mm cameras. She prints with traditional darkroom methods, including gelatin silver, Cibachrome, Type C, and Van Dyke Brown.
Annaliese Cassarino has exhibited her photography in solo and group exhibitions through galleries in California, Washington D.C., Maryland, and Connecticut. Television and newspaper reporters have interviewed her for stories on her photography. Private individuals and public entities collect her work. Annaliese and her husband reside in La Jolla, CA where she is continuing work on her latest project.
